Post Wave Children’s Books Enters U.S. Market

Post Wave Publishing UK Ltd., a U.K. subsidiary of Post Wave Publishing China formed in 2023, is poised to enter the U.S. market. Krestyna Lypen has been named editorial director, based in New York, reporting to publisher Emma Blackburn. As part of the expansion, the company has formed a sales and distribution partnership with Chronicle Books in North America.

Blackburn said in a statement, “I am delighted that Krestyna has joined the Post Wave team and that she will be leading the development of our list in the U.S. Her skills, experience, and market knowledge will bring a strategic insight to our publishing as she grows her list of authors and illustrators.”

Lypen will oversee a list of preschool, picture book, and illustrated nonfiction titles for young readers. She was most recently senior editor for Algonquin Young Readers; authors and illustrators she worked with there include Khoa Le, Heidi McKinnon, Nicole Melleby, and April Genevieve Tucholke. Previously, she served as associate editor at Workman Publishing, and held positions at Penguin and St. Martin’s Press.

Lypen said in a statement, “I’m thrilled to be joining Post Wave in bringing truly special illustrated books into the world for some of our most important readers—our youngest. Utilizing our collective global experience, we plan to connect with young readers everywhere via books that help them learn and grow and spark their own creativity.”

Led by managing director Emma Hopkin, Post Wave Publishing UK announced its creative team earlier this year. The launch list is set for August; Bounce Sales and Marketing will sell and distribute its books in the U.K.
