Lyrics of the Student Intifada

There is an elegy that echoes from the universities of Gaza to the universities of the world.

There is an elegy that echoes—

from the universities of Gaza to the universities of the world. Harrowing rhythms when rubble meets earth,

as the universities of Palestine collapse.

You are killing the learners of Gaza.

There is an anthem that echoes—

from the students of Gaza to the students of the world. Melodies of the intifada

seeping through your perforated ethics.

We cry out in solidarity with the learners of Gaza.

There is a ballad that echoes—

from the schools of Gaza to the schools of the world.

Unfettered, we fight,

upholding hope for a free Palestine.

Let our lyrics

fill your silence.

Because despite the wrists zip-tied

this riptide, this intifada

will never be incarcerated. This mosaic of messages is unshattered,

battered but unbroken,

we have spoken

and we will never stop. icon
