This beautiful book started as a conversation with my friend of over 50 years, Br. Joseph Schmidt. We talked about how liberating and reassuring the wisdom of Thérèse could be for stressed-out laypeople trying to live a good life. That conversation became working notes, and the next thing you know, Brother Joe and I were working on what would turn out to be his last book.
Neither of us anticipated the challenges we would encounter along the way. Brother Joe died a few weeks after we finished writing. His will to live during those last difficult months was powered by his devotion and desire to share Thérèse’s wisdom with more readers.
